Sunflowers have stems that can reach heights of up to ten feet and their flower heads can be up to a foot in diameter with edible seeds. The “flower” is actually a head which is made up of many small flowers crowded together. Outer ones are yellow, maroon or orange. The inner ones, which are arranged in a spiral pattern, mature into the sunflower seeds.
Took this pic on a sunny August day in Manitoba, near Elie, and stylized it a bit in photoshop. For more info, contact me at rob@robwiebe.com
